Epiphone release new Ultra Les Paul: Ultra III

The Ultra-III – Where Tradition Meets Technology: We all know that deep down, most guitarists love classic designs and shapes. That’s why we designed the new Les Paul Ultra-III with the same look and features of a traditional Les Paul but added new technology giving you a guitar that’s still a real Les Paul but also so much more!

Two Great Pickup Systems in One Guitar: At the heart of the new Ultra-III are two pickup systems. Powering the first are Epiphone’s new ProBucker™ humbucking pickups patterned after Gibson’s famous BurstBuckers™. With authentic 18% nickel silver base and cover, Elektrisola wire, accurate bobbins, slugs and screws, and sand casted Alnico-II magnets, the Ultra-III pickups replicate that classic “Patent Applied For” airy tone that defined rock and roll. The second system features Shadow™ Germany’s patented NanoMag™ pickup embedded discretely at the end of the fingerboard. Featuring three samarium cobalt magnets, an air coil, and active electronics, this low-impedance pickup captures all the subtle body acoustics and string harmonics. Together, you get powerful humbucker-driven rock crunch as well as shimmering acoustic-like tones and everything in-between.

One-Of-A-Kind Electrics Built-in: If you thought the Ultra-II was jam-packed with modern features, you won’t believe what Epiphone has designed into the Ultra-III. Built discretely into the bridge pickup mounting ring is a full-function, chromatic tuner. Push it’s ON/OFF button and sound is immediately muted when the tuner is activated. Eleven color-coded LED’s identify the note as well as whether it’s sharp, flat or in-tune. Also, to allow quick and seamless changes between each pickup system, the Ultra-III’s NanoMag Volume knob now doubles as an A/B switch. Just push it in and quickly toggle between Magnetic, NanoMag or both pickup systems with no delay and no “pop.” Two additional LED’s on the pickup mounting ring provide a visual indicator of which pickup system is active (Red=NanoMag; Blue-Magnetic or Red/Blue=Both).

Hook-Up Directly To Your Computer: The Ultra-III features three different outputs. By using the standard 1/4″ MONO output, both the humbuckers and NanoMag are mixed into one signal. When you plug another 1/4″ cable into the Ultra III’s STEREO output, the humbuckers are routed through one cable and the NanaMag the other. In this way, you can send the humbuckers to your favorite guitar amp and the NanoMag to the PA or an acoustic guitar amp. Using the A/B switch, you can now change “on-the-fly” between the two outputs. The third output is USB. Using a USB cable (included), you can plug directly into your computer and use guitar applications such as Native Instruments GuitarRig™ 4LE (software included, downloadable from Epiphone.com) to play your guitar through a variety of simulated amplifiers and effects while listening through your computer speakers or headphones. GuitarRig also features a recorder, a metronome, a tuner and more.

Great Tone Woods and Hardware: While the Ultra-III is packed with technology, it still maintains the same basic specifications that made Epiphone Les Paul’s the choice of so many guitarists including a solid mahogany body with glued-in mahogany neck and comfortable SlimTaper™ neck profile, a flame Maple veneer top and Rosewood fingerboard. The result is a modern guitar with that classic Les Paul tone and sustain. Like most Epiphone’s, it’s also equipped with Epi’s patent-applied-for LockTone ™ Tune-o-matic bridge and LockTone™ Stopbar tailpiece for increased sustain and string changing ease as well as quality Grover™ 16:1 machine heads for tuning accuracy and stability.

. If you want a versatile, professional instrument designed for live performance or studio and capable of both Les Paul crunch and real acoustic-like tones, the Epiphone Ultra-III is it!

To commemorate the one-year anniversary of the Nashville flood and to celebrate the resilience of the city’s music community, Gibson USA is proud to announce the Anniversary Flood Les Paul Studio. Although the rising waters took a huge toll on Music City, U.S.A. (and the Gibson USA factory), the music and the spirit of its people endure.

When the flood waters receded from the Gibson USA factory, they left a distinctive, beautiful swirl pattern on the floor of the finishing department. That same swirl has been recreated for the high-gloss nitrocellulose finish on the Anniversary Flood Les Paul Studio – available in either Marbelized Blue Swirl or Marbelized Green Swirl.

At its core, this guitar remains a pure Les Paul, with the classic maple/mahogany tonewood combination, Tune-o-matic bridge and humbucking pickups

Gibson USA Anniversary Flood Les Paul Studio

The Nashville flood of May 2010 devastated not only the city in general but the music community in particular—and Gibson lies right at the heart of that community. Countless guitars, both vintage and new, were subsumed by waters that seemed would never stop rising, and for many of their players it was hard to see how this community would ever recover. But however hard the times, and even in our darkest hours, the music lives on. To commemorate the one-year anniversary of the flood, Gibson USA presents the Anniversary Flood Les Paul Studio, a special-issue model that represents the enduring ability of the human spirit to salvage the music from the raging waters. Dressed in the minimalist Studio style, these guitars nevertheless offer a stunning new look in two commemorative high-gloss nitrocellulose finishes: Marbelized Blue Swirl Burst, and Marbelized Green Swirl.

At its core, this model remains pure Les Paul. Just like the most revered Les Paul Standards of all time, this Les Paul Studio starts with the classic tonewood combination of a mahogany body with solid carved maple top. Together, these woods offer outstanding tonal depth and richness from the mahogany, with superb clarity and “snap” from the maple. In this model, the strategic placement of several tone chambers enhances resonance while also reducing the guitar’s overall weight considerably, without sacrificing an ounce of punch or sustain. And even in this more affordable instrument from Gibson USA, the glued-in solid-mahogany neck is cut in the “quarter-sawn” grain orientation for superior strength and optimum resonance transfer between neck and body. To further maximize all that vibrational energy, Gibson includes its legendary Tune-o-matic bridge and stud-mounted stopbar tailpiece, arguably the most legendary hardware partnership in the history of the electric guitar. At the headstock end, a set of great Grover™ tuners—long considered an upgrade on several Les Paul models—help to keep it all pitch perfect.

Plugged in and amped up, the Anniversary Flood Les Paul Studio screams, purrs and moans like the best Les Pauls, too. Its tonal heart lies between a pair of Gibson USA’s most popular humbucking pickups, a 490R in the neck position and a 498T in the bridge. Both are made in the image of Gibson’s hallowed PAF humbucker: the 490R has vintage-wound coils and an Alnico II magnet for smooth, creamy vocal tones; the 498T is wound a little hotter, with a punchy Alnico V magnet, for screaming lead tones and gut-thumping crunch. Route them through the traditional Les Paul complement of an independent volume and tone control for each pickup and a three-way toggle switch, and you’ve got one of the most versatile tone machines on the planet.

Pull your own slice of tonal resurrection from the raging waters, and check out the Anniversary Flood Les Paul Studio today at your authorized Gibson Dealer. Each guitar includes a Gibson hardshell case and owner’s manual

Since 1959 the Melody Maker series has brought full and uncompromised Gibson quality and tone to professional-grade electric guitars priced for the player on a restricted budget. Staying true to this agenda, Gibson USA introduces the Melody Maker Explorer, one of four great models in an all-new Melody Maker line up. Like their predecessors, the Melody Makers for the second decade of the 21st century possess everything you need to rock, with none of the superfluous extras that get in the way. All are crafted from select tonewoods, carry a genuine Gibson USA humbucking pickup, and are built with traditional high-quality features such as a set-in neck, 24 3/4″ scale length and 1 11/16″ width at the nut. In short, nothing is spared in the effort to make these genuine Gibson guitars, but they come in a format that saves you a bundle. This great looking model is crafted in the image of a classic Gibson Explorer with a gorgeous nitrocellulose finish. In short, nothing is spared in the effort to make these genuine Gibson guitars, but they come in a format that saves you a bundle.

Maple has a long history in electric guitar making, and is one of the strongest tonewoods used in luthiery. The Melody Maker Explorer’s body of solid maple gives the instrument outstanding clarity and sustain, and helps it retain sharp note definition even amid heavy distortion. The guitar’s glued-in neck is crafted from solid quarter-sawn mahogany for superior strength and resonance, and carved to a superbly fast yet comfortable “Melody Maker profile” that measures .835″ at the 1st fret and .930″ at the 12th. In a contemporary departure from the norm, this neck carries a fingerboard made from torrified maple, a heat-treated form of maple that has the rich brown look of rosewood but is superior in strength and durability, and totally sustainable besides. Rendered in the shape of the original Explorer of 1958, perhaps the most radical electric guitar of all time, the Melody Maker Explorer has killer looks, tone, and playability.

To ram it all home, Gibson USA loads the Melody Maker Explorer with one of its most versatile pickups. The single 491T humbucker in the bridge position is crafted in the image of Gibson’s acclaimed PAF (“Patent Applied For”) humbucker of the late ’50s, but updated with a ceramic magnet for great power, clarity and sustain, and routed through a single volume control to keep it all simple. Go easy and it purrs sweetly; hit it hard, and there’s as much crunch, wail and sustain on tap as any rocker will ever need. Anchored by a timeless and tuneful stud-mounted wraparound bridge at the body end and a set of efficient enclosed tuners at the headstock, with a PLEK-cut Corian nut for enhanced sustain and ultimate intonation precision, it’s an incredible package for the player who wants a slice of full-bore Gibson USA quality at a stripped-down price.

Each new Melody Maker includes a Gibson gigbag and owner’s manual, and is covered by Gibson’s Limited Lifetime Warranty and 24/7/365 Customer Service.

Since 1959 the Melody Maker series has brought full and uncompromised Gibson quality and tone to top-grade electric guitars priced for the student, novice, or the pro on a budget. Staying true to this agenda, Gibson USA introduces the Melody Maker SG, one of four great models in an all-new Melody Maker line up. Like their predecessors, these Melody Makers launched in the second decade of the 21st century possess everything you need to rock, with none of the superfluous extras that get in the way. This great looking model is crafted in the image of a classic Gibson SG with a gorgeous nitrocellulose finish. In short, nothing is spared in the effort to make these genuine Gibson guitars, but they come in a format that saves you a bundle.

Maple has a long history in electric guitar making, and is one of the strongest tonewoods used in luthiery. A body crafted from solid maple gives the Melody Maker SG outstanding clarity and sustain, and helps it retain sharp note definition even through a heavily cranked amp. Rendered in the shape of the original SG of the 1960s, a rock icon in itself, the Melody Maker SG has killer looks, tone, and playability.

To give this guitar a punch equal to its heritage, Gibson USA loads the Melody Maker SG with one of its most versatile pickups.

Blend the guitar world’s most desirable solid-body electric design of the past six decades and Gibson’s original high-quality “student line” of 1959 and what have you got? The new Melody Maker Les Paul from Gibson USA, that’s what! Since 1959 the Melody Maker series has brought full and uncompromised Gibson quality and tone to top-grade electric guitars priced for the student, novice, or the pro on a budget. As one of four great models in an all-new Melody Maker line up, the Melody Maker Les Paul stays true to this tradition in spades. Like their predecessors, these Melody Makers designed for the tonal demands of the second decade of the 21st century possess everything you need to rock, with none of the superfluous extras that get in the way.

Maple has a long history in electric guitar making, and is one of the strongest tonewoods used in luthiery. A body crafted from solid maple gives the Melody Maker Les Paul outstanding clarity and sustain, and helps it retain sharp note definition even through a heavily cranked amp, while also allowing a thinner body than most electric guitars. Rendered in the seminal shape of the original Les Paul Junior and Special of the mid-1950s—long a favorite of rock, blues and punk players and others—the Melody Maker Les Paul has deadly looks, tone, and playability.

To give this guitar a punch equal to its heritage, Gibson USA loads the Melody Maker Les Paul with one of its most versatile pickups.

Epiphone Ltd Ed 1970′s Inspired Les Paul Custom Blackback Outfit

Dressed to Kill! The Les Paul Custom made it’s debut in 1954 after the initial success of the Les Paul Goldtop. Les Paul said he suggested black as the color for the guitar because it looked “classy” and went well with a tuxedo on stage. From that point on, the Les Paul Custom has often been referred to as the “tuxedo” Les Paul. And with it’s gold appointments, fully bound body, neck and headstock and mother-of-pearl inlays, we think you’ll agree that the Epiphone Les Paul Custom is “dressed to kill.”

Added Vintage-Vibe. Often, the original finish of Alpine White guitars aged over time and turned the true white color to an off-white, yellow. Epiphone reproduced this look with it’s subtle Antique Ivory color giving you the look of a vintage guitar, today. Also – during the 1970′s some LP Customs were painting with contrasting black backs. Finally, Epiphone equips this Custom with classic “open-top’ humbuckers featuring authentic Alnico-V magnets. Patterned after the original Gibson ’57 Classics, these pickups combine Alnico-V magnets with enamel wire to give you a tone that is warm and subtle with full, even response that doesn’t hold back when you need that classic humbucker crunch! The bridge pickup is slightly over-wound to give you a little more “crunch” when you need it while still maintaining great clarity and warmth. The combination is a unique, limited edition guitar that sounds great and is sure to attract the attention of both guitarists and collectors.

At the heart of every Les Paul Custom is Great Tone Woods. While all Les Pauls share common design features, the Les Paul Custom differed from the Les Paul Standard in that it’s body was solid Mahogany without a Maple cap. Epiphone’s LP Custom follows that tradition by using a solid, carved Mahogany body giving it a slightly mellower tone. Like the originals, attached to the body is a solid Mahogany neck with a hand-fitted, glued-in joint for optimum neck-to-body contact and acting almost like one continuous piece of wood. The neck features a very comfortable and fast “SlimTaper(tm)” neck profile that has become the most popular profile found on Les Pauls today. The result is a tribute to Les’ timeless guitar design with the sound and feel that you can only get from a real Les Paul.

Loaded with premium add-ons! Other premium features include Epiphone’s LockTone(tm) tune-o-matic/stopbar combination for increased sustain and easy string changes, 16:1 ratio Grover(tm) machine heads, a 7-layer bound body, a 5-layer bound headstock and a comfortable single-layer bound Ebony fingerboard. To top if off, the Les Paul Custom includes a premium hard case to protect your instrument when not in use. So put on your tuxedo and strap on this Limited Edition Epiphone Les Paul Custom Blackback today. Classic tone with classic looks!

PRESS RELEASE: Zoom’s G3 Guitar Effects and Amp Simulator Pedal unites the ease of a stompbox pedalboard with the power of a multi-effects pedal and adds a USB audio interface to the mix.

With complete control over both individual effects and amp modelling, you can modify your tones on the fly while performing. An onboard drum machine and looper make the G3 an incredible new option for guitarists of every level.

“To elevate their performance, guitar players can now use on-the-fly patch changes, craft their own sounds, jam along with the drum machine and looper or utilise DAW recording applications all with one easy-to-use pedal,” said Mark Wilder, Director of Marketing for Samson.

Most of the G3′s comprehensive features stem from its three large LCD displays and corresponding footswitches. Together they form a graphical interface that allows you to utilize up to three amp models or stompbox effects in any combination at any time. Or use the G3′s authentic amplifier modelling and over 100 built-in DSP effects to craft and store up to 100 original tones.

The G3 is also a USB audio interface for DAW recording on your computer. The pedal is bundled with Zoom’s Edit & Share software so you can easily create new patches and it also comes with Steinberg’s Sequal LE DAW for all your recording needs. Players will get over 6 hours of operation using four AA batteries, or can power the G3 with as USB bus or the included AC adapter.

Take your performance to a new level of mastery with the fun and easy to use G3 Guitar Effects and Amp Simulator Pedal.

PRESS RELEASE: Zoom is pleased to announce the addition of guitarist and lead vocalist Dave Mustaine of the iconic band Megadeth to our family of artists.

Mustaine has been a mainstay in the metal community for over 25 years, having formed Megadeth in 1983. Internationally acclaimed as one of the greatest metal guitarists in the world, Mustaine is also an accomplished producer.

“This pedal is built for action,” declares Mustaine. “With my personal sound effects and a large expression pedal modeled after the accelerator of one of my favorite sports cars onboard, the G2.1DM leaves all contenders at the starting line.”

2010 was a huge year for Mustaine and Megadeth. It marked the 20th Anniversary of Rust In Peace, considered one of the most influential heavy metal albums of all time. Megadeth also performed as part of the “The Big Four” tour in Europe alongside Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax, as well as the “American Carnage” tour. And 2011 is expected to be even bigger.

“It’s been a honor working closely with Dave on this new pedal,” says Mark Menghi, Artist Relations Director. “Zoom has been fully-committed to capturing his thrash metal guitar sound in the G2.1DM. We are excited to be unleashing it on guitar players everywhere.”
