NAMM 2011: Zoom introduced G3 multi effect and Dave Mustaine Signature G2.1DM

PRESS RELEASE: Zoom’s G3 Guitar Effects and Amp Simulator Pedal unites the ease of a stompbox pedalboard with the power of a multi-effects pedal and adds a USB audio interface to the mix.

With complete control over both individual effects and amp modelling, you can modify your tones on the fly while performing. An onboard drum machine and looper make the G3 an incredible new option for guitarists of every level.

“To elevate their performance, guitar players can now use on-the-fly patch changes, craft their own sounds, jam along with the drum machine and looper or utilise DAW recording applications all with one easy-to-use pedal,” said Mark Wilder, Director of Marketing for Samson.

Most of the G3’s comprehensive features stem from its three large LCD displays and corresponding footswitches. Together they form a graphical interface that allows you to utilize up to three amp models or stompbox effects in any combination at any time. Or use the G3’s authentic amplifier modelling and over 100 built-in DSP effects to craft and store up to 100 original tones.

The G3 is also a USB audio interface for DAW recording on your computer. The pedal is bundled with Zoom’s Edit & Share software so you can easily create new patches and it also comes with Steinberg’s Sequal LE DAW for all your recording needs. Players will get over 6 hours of operation using four AA batteries, or can power the G3 with as USB bus or the included AC adapter.

Take your performance to a new level of mastery with the fun and easy to use G3 Guitar Effects and Amp Simulator Pedal.

PRESS RELEASE: Zoom is pleased to announce the addition of guitarist and lead vocalist Dave Mustaine of the iconic band Megadeth to our family of artists.

Mustaine has been a mainstay in the metal community for over 25 years, having formed Megadeth in 1983. Internationally acclaimed as one of the greatest metal guitarists in the world, Mustaine is also an accomplished producer.

“This pedal is built for action,” declares Mustaine. “With my personal sound effects and a large expression pedal modeled after the accelerator of one of my favorite sports cars onboard, the G2.1DM leaves all contenders at the starting line.”

2010 was a huge year for Mustaine and Megadeth. It marked the 20th Anniversary of Rust In Peace, considered one of the most influential heavy metal albums of all time. Megadeth also performed as part of the “The Big Four” tour in Europe alongside Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax, as well as the “American Carnage” tour. And 2011 is expected to be even bigger.

“It’s been a honor working closely with Dave on this new pedal,” says Mark Menghi, Artist Relations Director. “Zoom has been fully-committed to capturing his thrash metal guitar sound in the G2.1DM. We are excited to be unleashing it on guitar players everywhere.”

Visit www.megadeth.com for more information on Dave Mustaine or to see the band live on tour and hear those Zoom thrash metal guitar effects.

NAMM 2011: Epiphone new products

Epiphone have announced the following new products:

Wilshire 1966 with Tremotone

Like an SG guitar, the Wilshire’s double cutaway Mahogany body with a glued-in Mahogany neck that joins the body at the 22nd fret gives you ultimate upper fret access. Lightweight and comfortable, the Wilshire has excellent resonance and natural acoustic tone – even unplugged! Featuring Epiphone’s LockTone (TM) tune-o-matic/stopbar combination, the transfer of string vibration is improved even more giving this guitar excellent sustain and clarity. But here’s what separates the Wilshire from the SG. Most early Epiphone guitars including the Wilshire were equipped with mini-humbucking pickups and Epiphone carries on this tradition. With its smaller size, narrow magnetic field and unique design combination, the mini-humbucker produces bright and focused output while retaining famous humbucker “hum-free” performance. A replica of the originals, they feature adjustable pole pieces, enamel wire, bar ceramic magnets and rounded nickel plated covers set in an original style black mounting ring with height adjustment screws.

Nighthawk Custom

When a new guitar design is introduced, history says that guitarists don’t immediately accept it. Such was the case with many, now iconic guitars including the Flying-V, Explorer and even the Les Paul. But ultimately, if the design is a great one it will stand the test of time and eventually, find it’s place into the guitarist’s arsenal of “go to” axes. When the Nighthawk was first introduced in 1993, it represented a departure from Gibson “tradition” with it’s 25.5″ scale length and it’s versatile combination of coil-tappable humbucking and single pickups. Now, 18 years later, guitarists who originally dismissed the Nighthawk as too “different” now recognize what a great guitar it really was and is!

Zakk Wylde Les Paul Custom Plus

Epiphone’s Zakk Wylde “Camo” and “Bullseye” Les Paul Customs have been the choice of shredders for years. And now, Epiphone and Zakk step it up a notch with the addition of active Zakk Wylde EMG-81/85 active humbucking pickups. Powered by a 9-volt battery, these active pickups set the standard for high-output, hard rock/metal tone. But that’s not all. Another upgrade on the Bullseye includes a premium Ebony fingerboard. Ultra-hard and ultra-smooth, you’ll feel the hear the difference. So plug one in and crank it up!
